Light Reflections

What's your favorite season?

It's the perfect ice breaker or surface level "get-to-know-you" type question. Most people have their answer memorized, along with their favorite color and whether they're a cat or dog person.

For me though, my favorite season has changed more than once in my lifetime. If you get nothing else from my random musings, please take this gem: give yourself permission to change. Change your mind. Change your preferences. Change your life. As many times as you want! And as often as you feel is necessary. Because while we all have a favorite season, there's a reason they change. Fall is beautiful when the leaves change to vibrant pops of red and yellow and orange. But as the nickname so aptly suggests- the leaves all fall down. Imagine a life with no leaves? Blah. I won't bore you with the life cycle of northeastern plants or how it's all necessary for humans (and all life-forms) survival.

However, I do want to point out that change is necessary for growth. Which leads us to my favorite season: Spring.

Spring is our reward for surviving the cold and dark of winter. It's the first warm breeze and lush green popping up. Spring is the universe reminding us that everything that once was, can be again. In fact, it can be bigger and better and more colorful than before. If you spent some time planting the seeds and even more time watering and caring for them. Everything in nature can be used as a metaphor for human existence.

This shot may be my favorite I've taken this season. Because without being told what your are looking at... it's easy to get lost in the shot. In the reflection and the depth and feeling unsure if you are looking up or down.

Life is like this. Give yourself permission to get lost in the moment. You don't always have to know what direction you are facing. Be present. Feel it. As long as there is light, you can always find your way again.
